A phrase we hear in yoga time and time again is “let go” - i certainly have had a tendency to over-emphasize this aspect of the practice. But lately i have been reevaluating the cliche’d “let go” and wondering what is actually happening.

At Samhain, as the moon turns from waning to waxing, we move across the threshold from death to rebirth. To the Celts, death sits between one life and the next. The Goddesses of Death are also Goddesses of Rebirth. They teach us that death is not an end, but a threshold of transformation.

Do you, like me, carry heavy armor of rigid self-protection, despite a desire for loving connection? Is your armor made of scar tissue - physical and emotional - layered over past hurts and deep wounds? Have you chosen harsh judgment over merciful compassion? Has your mind confused amour with armor?  What would it be like to set it down? For just a moment. Close by. In case you need it again.

We just passed through the Autumn Equinox (Mabon) - a time of Solar/Lunar balance when the Light and Dark stand together. As the balance shifts from light to dark, the transition can feel intense. My hope in sharing this musing today is that it will help you navigate these changes with greater ease, self-awareness and compassion.

We are in a strong period of transformation and awakening into Truth. The energy is quite disruptive and unsettling at times. Many people are focusing on the Chiron, Wounded Healer, aspect with this Pisces Moon. Yes, the wounds and shadows need tending, and I would encourage you to align with the healer aspect of Chiron and the strong will of Mars (who is also playing a prominent role in this alignment) rather than the parts of you that feel tired and broken.

We are in an eclipse season - a time of accelerated growth and transformation. We are also under the influence of a powerful Mercury retrograde cycle through Virgo. These alignments are calling us to actively embody spirit as we bring the ethereal into the real (which is one of the powerful gifts of guided meditation journeys).
