For you, Seekers of Sweetness, Spring Equinox Blessings
Life and Light are springing forth from the cold hard earth. The Spring Equinox (Ostara, Alban Eilir, the light of the earth, the resurrection day, the day of reawakening!) coincides with a Full Moon this year - March 20th. It doesn’t always happen like this, so when it does, take note!
Here’s how I feel it in me - a polarity in my emotional body quickening to joy and wanting to melt open, but also a holding back and resistance to feeling the full spectrum of life here at this time. Because wow, it’s a lot…as poet, Rainer Maria Rilke says:
“because truly being here is so much…”
On one hand, there’s a guarding of my tender heart against the darkness, and on the other hand is a longing to surrender - to feel and be felt - to bathe in the light - to rest in the luminous darkness of deep sleep and dreams - to enjoy this one precious life. It’s the polarity of this season - the Spring Equinox - where light and dark are held in equal balance.
So, here’s a Prayer and Ritual for Spring Equinox:
…for those days when you feel a bit overwhelmed and those other days when you feel constricted by fear and still those other days when you are wanting more - to be more, do more, have more because you don’t quite feel like enough...
May I remember that my work here is in loving the world...at one with the seekers of sweetness, standing still and learning to be astonished, rejoicing with gratitude for this body, this mind, this family, this one precious life.
Say this as you stand under the Full Moon, feel your feet on the earth and your skin caressed by the night air, hold in your heart an intention to soften. Let the prayer unfold in a natural way, as you add your own words and perhaps tears for the long hard winters of your life when you held back from loving the world and loving yourself. Then kneel down and make an offering by placing your hand to the Earth in reverence for this steadiness beneath your feet always.
And Remember Love…
So as the Moon waxes towards fullness and we step into the Sacred Pause of Spring Equinox, I remember LOVE. I honor the beauty, love and magic that is here - above, below, within and ALL around. I smile into the future and onto all that is blossoming through beautiful, magical collaborations. And I thank you, each of you, for being here with me on this Earth walk and making it a DANCE of Love.
As for Love, Ladies, I invite you to join a very special Beltane gathering with me and Dr. Stephanie Bridwell. May 16-19 in Mount Shasta. You will feel your passion for life light up, you will melt into the sweetness of sisterhood, and you will bliss out in the magic of Shasta! Register HERE and email me if you have any questions.
MESSENGER (by Mary Oliver)
My work is loving the world.
Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird —
equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.
Are my boots old? Is my coat torn?
Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect?
Let me keep my mind on what matters,
which is my work,
which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.
The phoebe, the delphinium.
The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture.
Which is mostly rejoicing, since all ingredients are here,
which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart
and these body-clothes,
a mouth with which to give shouts of joy
to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam,
telling them all, over and over, how it is
that we live forever.
Magical Ally: Hummingbird
Hummingbird, oh bearer of joy! I love this little bird for so many reasons. When you see the hummingbird in your dreams or in your waking life, open to a sweet soul message. Feel your heart and imagine the thrill of the hummingbird’s heart pulsing with such power and life force. Watch as the hummingbird dances in the air so freely and holds boundaries with such ferocity. Let your soul soar and dive with abandon and let your sweet self enjoy the sweetness of life - find the flowers that are blooming and hover among them for a time until you remember the beauty, love and magic here.
